Forest Consultant in Area Protection and Nature Conservation
We are looking for someone who wants to work with area protection and nature conservation management based in the Eastern Svealand-Gotland district.
You are needed in our efforts to implement the parliament's established forest and environmental policy goals as well as the environmental goal of Living Forests. You will be part of a team with other experienced forest consultants in nature conservation and area protection.

Your responsibilities include
You will primarily work with area protection issues such as nature conservation management within existing biotope protection areas and nature conservation agreements, as well as the establishment and management of area protection. Your tasks will include conducting nature value assessments. Work will be performed in the office and in the field. You will also work with advisory activities focusing on biodiversity and climate adaptation of forests.
The work involves contacts with forest owners, other active participants in forestry, as well as relevant authorities and organizations.
Depending on your skills, focus, and the needs of the organization, other work may also be relevant. Examples of this may include training and inventories within our assignment operations. In your work, you may need to operate over a larger geographical area, which may involve longer travel and overnight stays.
As an employee at the Swedish Forest Agency, you are expected to contribute to the development of our operations.
Qualifications
You have either a forestry university degree and good knowledge of nature conservation or a university degree in biology, or equivalent, along with good forestry knowledge.
The tasks are of such a nature that we consider it suitable for you who have several years of practical work experience in nature conservation management of forests with very high natural values, work with area protection or equivalent. Good species knowledge is an advantage. Experience in taking overall responsibility for advisory activities—from planning and implementation to final follow-up work—is also meritorious. We value good IT/GIS skills.
We place great importance on your personal qualities. You have an easy time expressing yourself verbally and in writing and can engage in dialogue with people in various situations. You are responsible, meticulous, and proactive. We hope you have good collaboration skills when working with colleagues, but also that you can work independently in a structured way towards set goals. You should feel comfortable conducting advisory activities, both digitally and physically, and speaking in front of larger groups.
You have a value base and integrity that allows you to identify with the requirements that the role of a civil servant entails.
A driving license for a manual transmission vehicle is required.
Our offer to you
We offer a permanent position at 100% starting with a 6-month probationary period. Start date is as soon as possible or by agreement.
We apply individual salary setting, remote work agreements, and trust-based working hours.
Stationing at one of the district's offices, primarily Uppsala and secondarily Västerås. Regardless of location, you are expected to work across the entire district's geography.
